160 Organizations sign letter
In the 2016 budget, the government announced a tiny increase in the welfare rate for People with Disabilities. There was nothing for people on the basic rate of $610 a month. After nine long years, they raised the rate for People with Disabilities by $77 to $983 for a month. However for the majority of people, they stole most of it back by increasing the cost of a bus pass from $45 a year to $693, cancelling out nearly all of the small increase.
This action has provoked a wave of rightful indignation.
One action has been an open letter to the government signed by over 160 organizations from all across BC.
